CONSORZIO FUTURO IN RICERCA
Consorzio Futuro in Ricerca (CFR) is a non-profit organization with public and private participation.
CFR was founded in 1993 as Consorzio Ferrara Ricerche and took on the name of Consorzio Futuro in Ricerca in 2014. CFR's mission is to promote and support research, innovation and technology transfer, acting as a privileged interlocutor for Universities, Research Centers, Public and Industrial Companies, in Italy and abroad, encouraging the meeting between different organizations and the world of work.
Role within Screen4Care
CFR is one of the pilot centers of the Screen4Care project where NBS will be performed using: i) genetic NBS for treatable diseases (TREAT-panel-approach), 2) Genetic NBS for actionable RD (ACT-panel-approach). The TREAT-panel corresponding 125 genes, will explore a total of 80 treatable Rare Diseases (RDs), meaning that all diagnosed infants will be addressed to the specific already approved and available treatment. The ACT-panel will allow to identify by robust, shared, and matter-of-fact criteria actionable RDs most benefiting of NBS.
